Happy Mother’s Day from Friends of the Rosie in Stitches

The Friends of the Rosie Hospital are helping to make the Rosie a more comfortable environment for mothers and babies.

At our 2012 AGM we reported that we have paid for pictures on the walls in two rooms set aside for breast-feeding mothers, who are visiting the Hospital. We have promised money to purchase four billimeters for Community Midwives at a cost of about £3000 each. These billimeters will be a great help in the community keeping an eye on babies who might develop jaundice and enabling mothers to be seen either at home or a local clinic rather than coming to hospital. The hospital are buying a further four, enabling each of the eight teams of midwives to have one. We have also promised money for special incubator cots for premature babies.

It is hoped that the first part of the new building will go live in August 2012 with the rest available in September. Anna Shasha reported that the new building is looking fantastic and the rooms are palatial with fantastic amenities for all the new mums in Cambridge. Besides the 58 cot availability there will be a new fetal medicine unit plus scanning rooms and much more.

If you have any spare ribbons or yarn we are in urgent need of your donation.
